Grilling and barbecuing are among America's leading culinary pastimes and Helena, Arkansas is raising the stakes by hosting the Fourth Annual BBQ & Blues on the Levee at the world famous King Biscuit Blues Festival which is held October 7 - 10.
When the flames begin, music fans, barbecue enthusiasts and championship barbecue teams will descend upon cool blues and hot grilling for an unparalleled experience.
"BBQ & Blues on the Levee will bring some of the best barbecue teams in the South to participate" said Ron Cates, event organizer. "Even though there is $10,000 up for grabs, it's really about more than that; it's about respect among their peers and having a great time with the barbecue community. We're all family."
Considered one of the South's richest contests with a guaranteed purse of $10,000, the Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event is an Arkansas State Championship and considered a qualifier for the Jack Daniel's World's Championship Draw.
