King of the Pit Competition Open to All Barbecue Teams

The second annual DEGAQUE Alabama Barbecue Championship, one of the world’s richest contests with $50,000 in guaranteed prize money, is back Halloween Weekend, October 29-30, 2010 at Talladega Superspeedway.

“DEGAQUE was created to bring the best grillers in the world to Talladega Superspeedway. It’s about more than the prize money, it’s respect. Teams that compete here know that our champion will be recognized as the planet’s best griller”, organizer Ron Cates said. “Plus, what better place to hold a competition than the biggest, fastest, most competitive motorsports facility in the world. Barbecue and racing just go hand in hand".

DEGAQUE’s King of the Pit championship series is destined to become on of the premier barbecue competitions on the circuit. “We are known for hosting big events at Talladega Superspeedway, and we believe this event will just add to the Talladega experience and atmosphere. Everything about this event fits with Talladega. We are very excited about putting this to our fall weekend and believe our fans and the barbecue teams will enjoy it.” according to Rick Humphrey, President of Talladega Superspeedway.

To make the experience an unforgettable weekend of barbecuing and racing, the entry fee includes two tickets to the AMP Energy 500 Sunday afternoon. For teams arriving early, discounted tickets will be available for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Qualifying Day Friday and the Mountain Dew 250 Saturday.
