Colt Ford

Colt Ford

Take a hefty portion of Southern charm, add a dash of country livin’, a pinch of urban style, wash it all down with a sweet, fresh sound, and you have Colt Ford. A man with such a blend of unique talents and tastes can only be the natural recipe for this new sound .

Colt Ford embodies the seemingly unusual pairing of the Southern country and hip-hop musical influences that he heard growing up in small-town America. His newly styled country music is truly a blend of many American musical styles, including country, rock, hip-hop, and rhythm & blues. With this musical mixture, Colt blazes forward with a new, creative sound for the all-American everyman. Although the stories may differ for rural and urban listeners, Colt delivers a common message and emotion with an uncommon sound.

Brantley Gilbert

Brantley GilbertBrantley was born and raised in the small town of Jefferson, Georgia, just outside the Athens city limits. It is that upbringing and small town influence Brantley credits toward allowing him to cultivate his unique sound. With well-known rock bands REM and the B-52’s having roots nearby, Brantley’s taste in music always swayed toward a rock feel, but his true-to-life testimony of heartache, trials, triumph, and success found a home in country music.

With the fans demanding new music from Brantley, he came to Nashville, Tennessee where he soon signed with Warner Chappell Publishing and began to develop music for a debut album release. One of his songs, “The Best of Me,” was recorded by Jason Aldean and earned a spot on his Walmart exclusive release (WIDE OPEN) and ITunes. Since, Brantley has signed a record deal with Average Joe’s Entertainment and collaborated with top-charting act and labelmate Colt Ford to write and record, “Dirt Road Anthem,” which is currently featured on Ford’s multiple-week Top 25 Billboard album, RIDE THROUGH THE COUNTRY.

“I’ve realized that life can be very short, and everyone should take advantage of it,” he said. “If you’re gonna live, do something with it. Make it great.”

And great it is. Brantley celebrates the release of his sophomore album, HALFWAY TO HEAVEN, in March 2010 leading off with the single “Kick It In the Sticks.” HALFWAY TO HEAVEN follows his 2009 release, A MODERN DAY PRODIGAL SON, which features hit singles, “G.R.I.T.S.” and “Whenever We’re Alone.”

PG-13

PG-13PG-13 in a word is FUN. Individually they are very good on their instruments, but when they take the stage they turn into something very extraordinary. And so while PG-13 performs the best rock tunes ever written, their philosophy is “it’s got to rock and its got to be fun.”

For a long time now they have believed central Arkansas has been looking for a new and different and powerful rock group. But more importantly when they come together as a band, musical excitement really begins to rev up!

PG-13 has an extensive playlist of all your current and classic rock favorites. The group is composed of mike brown on bass, Bobby Wright on guitars, Mitch trotter on drums and Fred Bass on keys and guitar.

Individually each member plays several different instruments. Bobby (a local guitar teacher) plays incredible lead guitar. Fred plays guitar on some of the heavier rockers and keyboards on all the rest. Mike’s tremendous vocal abilities allow him to cut up on stage. And Mitch’s incredible drumming technique lays the foundation for all the classics such as hotel ca, little pink houses and funky music white boy. Mike and Bobby have even been seen dancing on the dance floor while still playing their instruments!

Cool Stuff to Do

GREAT AMERICAN BARBECUE TOUR

Great American Barbecue TourOf the hundreds of barbeque competitions and festivals across the country, only 25 are selected for the Kansas City Barbeque Society Great American BBQ Tour. This year, SMOKE ON THE WATER is one of the events chosen by the world’s largest barbeque organization as a site for the tour.

“The Great American BBQ Tour has seen tremendous success in its first two years, and we’re thrilled to continue the program into 2010,” said Carolyn Wells, executive director of KCBS. “We’re proud to have the Arkansas State Barbecue Championship as one of our Tour stops, and hope the Pine Bluff residents will enjoy the barbeque entertainment and education that only the Great American BBQ Tour can bring.”

“It is a great honor to be selected as one of the 25 events that the Great American BBQ Tour will visit this year,” said organizer Ron Cates. “KCBS is the preeminent barbeque organization in the world, and for them to choose Smoke on the Water really puts us on the barbeque world map!”

The cross-country tour features the husband-and-wife team of Mike and Chris Peters, who share grilling tips and tasty food samples with event attendees. During these presentations, two lucky audience members are chosen for a Grill Master cook-off. Participants are tasked with cooking a piece of chicken with KC Masterpiece or Weber Seasonings and Kingsford Charcoal, three of the tour’s national partners.

The participants are judged by the audience on the KCBS standards of appearance, taste and texture. At stake is a prize pack loaded with goodies from KCBS, Master of Mixes, Scott Shop Towels and other tour partners. www.kcbs.us
